Expression of interest: guzheng group class, autumn term 2026

For the autumn term of 2026, Xingzhi School plans to open a guzheng group class on Saturdays. As a good number of parents have been in touch recently, we are now formally opening an expression of interest, so that we can plan the groups and make sure every student has an instrument.

⚠️ Particularly important regarding instruments: teaching instruments must be ordered together from China and shipped by sea, which takes roughly two months. To make sure the instruments arrive in time for the start of the autumn term, we ask all interested parents to contact the teacher and register as early as possible. The teacher needs your responses in advance in order to pre-order instruments and teaching resources.

Classes and fees

1. Beginners' class (for children or adults with no prior experience)

Content: exploring the instrument and basic hand position — for anyone entirely new to the guzheng.

Length: 10 lessons, 1 hour of teaching per lesson.

Timing: please arrive at the room 30 minutes early to prepare and tune, so allow an hour and a half each time.

Fee: 3,450 SEK. Digital teaching materials and finger tape included.

Instrument rental: 300 SEK. A smaller beginner's instrument of 50 cm to 1 metre is provided. It may be taken home to practise and is returned at the end of term. Please bring it to lessons.

2. Continuation class (for students with some prior experience)

Content: systematic study progressing step by step through the textbook.

Length: 10 lessons, 1 hour of teaching per lesson.

Timing: please arrive at the room 30 minutes early to prepare and tune, so allow an hour and a half each time.

Fee: 3,450 SEK. You purchase the textbook yourself via Taobao (budget under roughly 100 RMB).

Instrument rental: 900 SEK. A portable 1-metre guzheng is provided (your own instrument is also fine). It may be taken home to practise and is returned at the end of term. Please bring it to lessons.

Please note: students under 12 may be accompanied by one parent.

How to register your interest

So that your place and your instrument arrive in time, please message Teacher Chen as soon as possible with the following:

1. The student's name and age

2. Preferred class (beginners' / continuation)

3. Which times on Saturdays suit you (please state the time range that works)

4. Instrument (need to rent from the teacher / have your own to bring)

The teacher is preparing resources based on the number registered. Places are limited, so please get in touch in good time.
