Sincere company, steady progress
Across more than ten years in Chinese-language education, I have focused on the research and practice of teaching Chinese to children abroad, from first steps through to more advanced levels. At the same time, my background in electrical and IT engineering means I bring the rigour of the sciences — along with natural enthusiasm and creativity — to the search for the best approach, inside the classroom and beyond it.
As chief editor and one of the authors of the Xingzhi Chinese textbook series, I worked with our team to build a systematic, lively and accessible framework for younger learners overseas. I believe a good classroom should feel warm and animated: speak to children in words they understand, about things they actually care about. I enjoy making the complicated simple and letting small things carry big ideas, and I want learning Chinese to be, for every child, a light and genuinely interesting exploration.
For me, teaching is not only passing on knowledge — it is teacher and student moving towards each other. I want to be the kind of guide who crouches down, sees the world through the child's eyes, understands them and joins them there, and in doing so lights up what is already inside them. Chinese should not only be a tool for communication; it can be the wings that carry them towards what they love.
"Put the student first, and the teacher grows with the teaching." Those words have been my compass throughout. Only by bending down to listen can you truly see; and only in sincere company do we reach further together.
